Mid-market property to debut late next year
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said it will open an Aloft-brand hotel in Panama City, Panama, in December 2012. The new-build, mid-market hotel will feature 312 rooms and over 4,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space.
Osvaldo Librizzi, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Latin America, said the new Aloft represents a continuation of his company's “aggressive expansion in destinations and markets throughout Latin America. In Panama, Aloft will make a bold, new statement, bringing both business and leisure travelers a vibrant alternative for hotel stays in this key city. While Starwood has had a long and successful presence here, and our brands enjoy a loyal following, Panama's growth and potential continue to present new opportunities.”
Starwood currently operates four hotels in Panama: the Four Points by Sheraton Colon, the Four Points by Sheraton Panama, the Sheraton Panama Hotel & Convention Center and Le Meridien Panama. The new Aloft is being developed by Nuevos Hoteles de Panama S.A., which will also operate the hotel under a franchise agreement with Starwood.
