HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS/EXECUTIVE CHANGES

Corinthia Hotels has hired Liam Lambert as its chief operating officer. Lambert’s career includes stints as president of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts and operations director in Europe, Africa and the Middle East for Mandarin Oriental Hotels.

Chang Su will resign as China Lodging Group’s chief operating officer for personal reasons. Su will continue to serve as a consultant to the company, and no near-term plans to fill the position have been made. 

Bill Otto has resigned as president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts. He joined the company in 1993 as senior vice president of operations.

NanoLumens hired Karen Robinson as executive vice president of sales and marketing and Dana Michaelis as vice president and general manager of advertising networks.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened its first Aloft in the U.K., the 252-key Aloft London Excel. The mid-market hotel is owned by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Co.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. opened the 493-key Ritz-Carlton Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

Davidson Hotels & Resorts opened the 256-key Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel in Louisiana.

White Lodging broke ground on a 296-room Hyatt Place hotel in Austin, Texas, which is slated to open in spring 2013.

Château Élan Winery & Resort renovated its 14 spa guest suites, the Fleur de Lis restaurant, two library areas, gift shop, front desk and lobby. This is the second phase of the $3 million renovation.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts opened the 147-key Hotel Sierra King of Prussia in Valley Forge, Pa.

Romacorp Inc. opened Tony Roma’s restaurants in Torrance, Calif.; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Bangkok.

Viceroy Hotels and Resorts rebranded the Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi as Yas Viceroy. The hotel features a refurbished lobby designed by Poltrona Frau Emirates of Abu Dhabi.  

Choice Hotels has rebranded the 44-key Royal Hotel Luton as Comfort Hotel Luton.

Kimball Hospitality has entered a strategic manufacturing partnership that gives Linwood Furniture LLC exclusive rights to produce Kimball’s North American-made case goods.

Newsweek magazine has named Mohawk Industries to its list of the 500 greenest U.S. companies for a third consecutive year.

Digital display manufacturer NanoLumens will move into a new, 32,000-sq.-ft. headquarters in Norcross, Ga., on Dec. 1.

HKS Architects Inc. is expanding its presence in the Midwest by opening a Chicago office.

AWARDS

AMResorts president Alex Zozaya received a leadership medal from the Anáhuac University of South Mexico for his entrepreneurial accomplishments and commitment to Mexico’s tourism industry.

The Mansion on Delaware Avenue has been inducted into the Historic Hotels of America, an affiliate of The National Trust for Historic Preservation. The 1867 mansion in Buffalo, N.Y., was vacant for more than 20 years before being transformed into a luxury butler-service hotel in 2001.
