First Pacific sailing set for mid-2010
American Cruise Lines (ACL) is seeing a lot of blue water. The small-ship, U.S.-flagged cruise line plans to build out its three-ship fleet and East Coast itineraries with a new ship, Independence, which sets sail next year, and a new presence on the West Coast.
ACL will take its maiden voyage in the Pacific next summer. The 120-passenger Queen of the West, acquired earlier this fall by ACL subsidiary Blue Spruce LLC, will offer seven-night itineraries on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. ACL officials expect to announce further West Coast expansion plans early in 2010.
