Wendy’s/Arby’s Group seeks to turn around brand
Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc. announced that Tom Garrett, president and ceo of its Arby’s unit, is leaving the company. Roland Smith, president and ceo of Wendy’s/Arby’s, will assume Garrett’s role on an interim basis to “lead the turnaround of the Arby’s brand,” the company said in a statement.
Smith said Garret has made “enormous contributions to the Arby’s brand over the past 29 years. He is a man of honor and integrity, who has worked relentlessly to build the brand. We are beginning discussions with Tom about becoming an Arby’s franchisee and hope that he continues to be involved with the brand.”
The company said a search is under way for a permanent replacement for Garrett, who was named president and ceo of Arby’s in September 2008, following the formation of Wendy’s/Arby’s Group. Previously, he was president and chief operating officer of Arby’s and held many leadership and operations positions with that brand.
The fast-food chain operates or franchises about 3,800 Arby's locations and 6,600 Wendy's units.
