Two regional Asian restaurant chains headquartered in the Chicago area have merged, with an eye toward future growth. Chicago-based Stir Crazy Restaurants LLC has combined with FlatTop Grill, owned by the Happy Valley Corp. of Oak Park, to form Flat Out Crazy LLC.
The new combined entity runs 28 restaurants in 8 states, and says it may open as many as 30 new restaurants over the next three years. Full-service casual Stir Crazy Fresh Asian Grill and fast-casual FlatTop Grill will retain their names and individual concepts. Flat Out Crazy will run the two concepts independent of one another, while at the same time looking to each for best practices, people development, efficiencies and enhancements.
"Having both casual and fast casual Asian brands under one umbrella gives us incredible appeal to patrons, a very strong bottom line with combined revenues of the new organization in excess of $60 million with an ability to leverage costs and expenses," said Frederic Mayerson, Flat Out Crazy's chairman and ceo.
