Installs occupancy sensors, steam traps
The Atlanta Marriott Marquis is implementing additional energy-saving management systems throughout the hotel. The eco-friendly upgrades include:
*Occupancy sensors in the hotel’s 1,663 guest rooms/suites, back of house, meeting rooms and stairwells search for movement, and if none is detected the temperature is slowly lowered to save energy;
*Heat and smoke sensors in six kitchen-hood systems that control the speed of the exhaust fans;
*187 new Steamgard steam traps throughout the building that stop steam from passing through valves, but allow condensate to return to the boiler;
The hotel’s other green amenities include linen-less tables in the atrium meeting spaces, room keys made from 50 percent post-consumer content, low-flow toilets in the guest rooms, automatic sensors on public-area plumbing fixtures and energy-efficient fluorescent lighting.
