Chain’s first international outlet is in the Burj Khalifa skyscraper

How's this for a high-profile overseas debut? U.S.-based Baja Fresh Mexican Grill's first international location is at the entrance of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world's tallest skyscraper. The new 900-square-foot restaurant, which is owned and operated by 12-year industry veteran Khalil Asfour of Vetra Investments, is located in the food court in the mall at the base of the tower.
“We are confident that our newest restaurant will be a great addition to the culturally diverse pallets of the city's residents and guests,” said Baja Fresh president Charles Rink, whose company operates 255 restaurants in the U.S. “We are proud to welcome Khalil Asfour as our first international franchisee. We look forward to future growth in Dubai, and other international locations.”
Asfour has also secured the rights to develop Baja Fresh's sister brand La Salsa, with plans to open its first location in Dubai later this year.
