Best Western International has opened its first Atrea hotel in San Antonio, its new entry in the upper mid-scale market. The company says the Atrea prototype incorporates several features designed to make business travelers more productive, including multifunction community spaces for meetings or social gatherings, and guest rooms that feature multimedia technology.
Developers have committed to build 28 more Atreas, including five slated to open this year, the company says. Best Western also says Atrea hotels can be built at a cost of $85,000 to $90,000 per key, as compared to $100,000 per key at competing chains.
