Rockwell Group founder named Designer of the Year
David Rockwell, founder and CEO of New York-based Rockwell Group, has been named Designer of the Year in the fifth annual Boutique Design Awards competition. Rockwell Group, along with other winners in the BD competition, will be honored at an awards ceremony taking place during Boutique Design New York (BDNY). BDNY is a new hospitality interiors fair created by Hospitality Style's sister publication, Boutique Design, which will be held Nov. 14-15 at the Javits Convention Center in New York.
“As an innovator in the creation of ‘immersive environments,' David Rockwell has made major contributions to the boutique hotel sector, including the creation of such high-profile properties as the Andaz Wall Street, Trump Soho New York and Ink48 hotels,” said Matthew Hall, editor of Boutique Design. “It is fitting that we pay tribute David and his New York-based firm at the inaugural BDNY, which represents the return of a hospitality interiors fair to this great city.”
In addition to honoring Rockwell, the Boutique Design Awards ceremony will mark the unveiling of the winners in the best hotel, restaurant, nightclub and spa design categories, along with several specialty awards. The ceremony will take place at 5 pm on Nov. 14 in the BDNY Theatre (Show Floor, Booth 3066) in the new Javits North building. For ticket information, click here.
Profiles of the winning projects, along with a Q+A with Rockwell on trends in the boutique hotel design sector, will be published in the January-February 2011 issue of Boutique Design.
