The Sycuan Casino in El Cajon, Calif., has taken the wraps off the first phase of a two-part renovation. KCM Group Inc., project manager for that work, said it has finished renovating the complex’s poker room, off-track betting room and a gaming wing for slots and table games. In addition, the casino’s buffet restaurant was relocated and updated with a new kitchen and food stations.

KCM Group is currently overseeing the second and final phase of the work, which involves creating a new main entrance that will feature specialty lighting designed to create the illusion of water, as well as renovations to the bingo hall, deli, snack bar and casino restrooms. Additions to the complex will include a new video/promotions stage, a grand stairway linking the lower-level casino to the new table-games area and a sports bar-and-grill. Those upgrades are slated to be finished in August.

The Sycuan Casino is operated by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, and has remained open to guests throughout the renovations. KCM Group represents the tribe and casino management through all facets of the project, including programming, budgeting and construction management.

“Phase one has been a great success and this continues to be an exciting project that will provide a greatly enhanced gaming facility for San Diego and the area’s many visitors,” said KCM principal Gordon Kovtun.
