Franchisee to open six restaurants in five years
California Pizza Kitchen Inc. plans to open six restaurants in Taiwan over the next five years in partnership with a new franchise partner, Quanta Foods. Quanta was previously a joint-venture partner in Taiwan with such brands as McDonald’s and TGI Friday’s, and it is currently the exclusive franchisee in that country for Outback Steakhouse.
“We are proud to be a global brand and whenever we are able to introduce our innovative menu into a new country, it is an opportunity we pursue,” stated Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, co-founders and co-ceos of California Pizza Kitchen. “Quanta Foods has a great success record in Taiwan and we are pleased to partner with them on this venture.”
California Pizza Kitchen, which unveiled a deal late last month to be acquired by Golden Gate Capital for about $470 million, currently has 205 company-owned restaurants and 60 operating under franchise or license agreements. In all, the company has 35 restaurants in several international markets, including China, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, South Korea, Guam, India, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
