Carlson Hotels Names Chief Branding Officer

Gordon McKinnon has been hired as executive vice president and chief branding officer by Carlson Hotels Worldwide. McKinnon was previously with The Rezidor Hotel Group in Brussels, Belgium, as executive vice president of brands. (Carlson is the main shareholder of Rezidor.)

"We welcome Gordon to Carlson's global hotel management team, and we look forward to drawing upon his extensive experience and unique skill set as we continue to enhance our hotel brands and market position," said Hubert Joly, president and ceo of Minneapolis-based Carlson Hotels, whose holdings include 1,045 properties in 75 countries operating under the Regent Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Hotels & Resorts, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson and Park Inn brands.

McKinnon joined Rezidor in 2002 as the vice president of brand and concept development, which involved positioning and defining current and future hotel brands and concepts. As a brand leader, he was responsible for defining and establishing the Hotel Missoni concept in terms of design, architecture, strategic locations, operations and service standards.
