Carnival Dream's maiden voyage slated for 2012
Carnival Corp. & plc will expand its 22-ship fleet with the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream scheduled to enter service in spring 2012. The 3,690-passenger vessel will be constructed by Fincantieri, the Italian shipbuilder currently at work on the 130,000-ton Carnival Magic set to launch in May 2011.
With an all-in cost of approximately $200,000 per lower berth, the new cruiseship will feature a WaterWorks aqua park, an indoor/outdoor café and live entertainment venue, dedicated spaces for children and teens and a 23,750-square-foot Cloud 9 Spa. Cantilevered whirlpools are being designed into the outdoor promenade. Passengers will have a broad menu of stateroom choices including some with five berths to accommodate families.
