Vessels to join company’s Costa and AIDA lines
Carnival Corp. & plc has announced plans for three new cruise ships—one for its Costa Cruises brand and two for its AIDA Cruises flag. The ships will be the largest ever constructed for those two lines, Carnival said.
The 3,700-passenger Costa ship will be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and is slated for delivery to the cruise line in October 2014. The two AIDA ships, meantime, will each have a passenger capacity of 3,250 and will be built by Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Those vessels are slated to be delivered in March 2015 and March 2016, respectively.
