The Cheeca Lodge & Spa announced it will reopen on Dec. 15, when construction of its new Main Lodge building is completed. The previous Main Building at the 63-year-old resort in Islamorada, the Florida Keys, was damaged by fire last December.
The new four-story Main Lodge is being constructed with the same porte-cochere entrance, traditional Florida Keys architecture and West Indies décor of its predecessor. It will also feature 62 new oceanfront and island view suites that will feature 24-foot-wide balconies, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, private lanais, open-air round tubs for two with overhead tub fillers, and marble and glass rain showers for two.
The new Main Building will also include an updated lobby bar, a Nikai Sushi Bar, and an Atlantic's Edge restaurant. In addition, the Spa at Cheeca Lodge is being enlarged to include 11 treatment rooms.
"Returning guests will discover that Cheeca is still Cheeca, with its unique sense of place," says owner Jerry Johnson.
