Hilton Worldwide has hired Dottie Brienza as its senior vice president, global head of talent management. Brienza is a 20-plus-year veteran of Johnson & Johnson.

Kimball International Inc. has promoted Stan Sapp to president of its Kimball Hospitality unit.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS

Celebrity chef Mario Batali is teaming with partner Joe Bastianich to develop six new restaurants at Eataly, a large-scale Italian food emporium slated to open later this year in Manhattan.

The 422-key Grosvenor House, Dubai, has joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.'s Luxury Collection. Next year, the hotel will add a second tower, with 323 rooms, suites and apartment suites.

The Rezidor Hotel Group is developing its third hotel in Istanbul: the Radisson Blu Istanbul Asia. The 194-room hotel will open in late 2011.

Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, the quick-casual fresh Mexican chain, has opened its first location in Atlanta. The 2900-sq.-ft. restaurant is owned and operated by Mayur Raval.

The Handlery Hotel & Resort in San Diego has reopened after undergoing a three month, multi-million dollar renovation.

The Denver-based Smashburger chain will open its first restaurant in Las Vegas next month.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

India's KBJ Group has formed hotel division, KBJ Hotels Ltd., which is seeking hotel development deals as well as management contracts The Mumbai-based company's first batch of hotel projects include a flagship property in Varanasi, followed by properties in Goa, Bodhgaya, Kushinagar and Khajuraho.

Concord Hospitality Enterprises, a hotel developer/owner/operators, said it added 12 properties to its portfolio in 2009, closing the year with 62 hotels. And for 2010, the company has already added eight properties representing six brands, including the Concord's first locales for Hyatt Hotels Corp. and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.

Sweetwater Construction Corp. has been named construction manager for the renovation of the Holiday Inn Select Memphis Airport Hotel & Conference Center in Memphis, Tenn. Work on the two-tower, 374-key project is slated to be finished by July.

Marshall Hotels & Resorts Inc., a hotel management and services company, today announced the company added 10 management contracts in 2009, including six previously unannounced properties in the fourth quarter. The company also said it has inked its first contract for 2010, for the 118-room Cavalier Inn on the University of Virginia campus in Charlottesville, Va.
