HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS/EXECUTIVE CHANGES
Hilton Worldwide hired Kristin Campbell as executive vice president and general counsel. Campbell was previously senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Staples.
Global architectural design firm HOK hired Beth Bernitt as chief marketing officer. Bernitt returns to HOK, where she began her career as an interior designer, after working for the Beck Group, a construction, development and design services firm.
Brintons carpets has hired Paul Boldy as its international project director. Boldy’s career includes stints at ISG, Jumeirah Hotel Group and Concept Interiors.
Hospitality and travel company Carlson hired Alan Buddendeck as vice president and chief communications officer. His experience includes stints with Nissan Motor Co. and Motorola.
MANAGEMENT CONTRACTS/ACQUISITIONS
Noble Investment Group acquired the184-key Holiday Inn Decatur Hotel and Conference Center in Georgia and will convert it to a Courtyard by Marriott.
California Pizza Kitchen has agreed to be acquired by an affiliate of Golden Gate Capital for $470 million. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
KSL Resorts has taken over management of the 293-key Montelucia Resort & Spa from InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. The company acquired the resort from a syndicate of banks that had foreclosed on the property.
The Waldorf=Astoria has chosen Trilogy Spa Ventures to operate its 14,000-sq.-ft. Guerlain Spa. Trilogy will also assume oversight of the hotel’s Guerlain retail boutique.
BUSINESS BRIEFS
Boutique hotel design pioneer Cheryl Rowley is closing her Beverly Hills, Calif.-based design studio to peruse other endeavors. Rowley’s firm has designed hotels for Kimpton’s Monaco and Palomar brands, as well as for Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Rosewood and Mandarin Oriental.
Starwood Hotels & Resort’s 127-key Element Ewing Hopewell in New Jersey earned LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
AWARDS
Knoll won the 2011 National Design Award for corporate and institutional achievement from the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.
