Sixth international site for Morton’s Restaurant Group
Morton's Restaurant Group Inc. plans to open a new Morton's The Steakhouse in Shanghai, in a joint venture with a local investor group. The new restaurant is slated to open later this year in the Shanghai International Finance Center, a mixed-used development in the city's financial center that also includes two office towers, a high-end shopping center and a five star Ritz-Carlton hotel.
The Shanghai Morton's will feature a large main dining room, several private dining rooms, a Bar 12-21 and an outdoor terrace dining area. “We're excited about the opportunity to open our first Morton's in beautiful and historic Shanghai with its thriving business and retail environment,” said Christopher Artinian, president and ceo of Morton's Restaurant Group, Inc. “We believe our new Shanghai restaurant can serve as a gateway for future Morton's in Asia.”
The joint venture in Shanghai represents Morton's sixth steakhouse outside the United States. The company currently owns and operates 76 Morton's steakhouses in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Macau, Mexico City, Singapore and Toronto.
