Both Caesars' locales in state to operate under that brand

The new casino being built in Cincinnati will be the second locale in that state to operate under Caesars Entertainment Corp.'s Horseshoe brand. The co-developers of that project, Rock Gaming LLC and Caesars, made that announcement at a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday for the Cincinnati casino, which is being built on the northeast corner of that city's downtown. A day earlier, the same partners announced that the casino they are jointly developing some 240 miles to the north, in Cleveland, will also bear the Horseshoe brand.

The Cleveland Horseshoe locale will open first, in about a year, while the $400 million Cincinnati site is slated to open in late 2012. The Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati complex will feature a 100,000 sq. ft. gaming floor that will be home to 2,300 slot machines, 72 table games, a high-limits area, a World Series of Poker room, and a VIP Player's lounge.

In addition, the complex is expected to include three street-side restaurants, a buffet restaurant, a food court with regional fare, and a main-floor feature bar to round out the food, beverage and entertainment offerings. The locale's second level will be home to about 33,000 sq. ft. of multipurpose and special function space will provide for business meetings, social events and entertainment offerings.

Caesars currently operates five locales under its Horseshoe brand, which is a step down from the company's top-of-the-line Caesars flag, which flies at four locales. Caesars also operates 16 Harrah's-branded casinos.

All the casino-building in Ohio stems from the state's voters giving the green light in 2009 to four casinos. The other two gaming sites in the state—in Columbus and Toledo—are both slated to open next year and will be operated by Penn National Gaming Inc. under its Hollywood Casino flag.
