ARIA Resort, Vdara Hotel first in complex to gain certification

The CityCenter mixed-use complex in Las Vegas announced that two of its properties have received LEED Gold certifications from the U.S. Green Building Council for their eco-friendly features. Achieving that status were: the ARIA Resort's hotel tower, as well as its adjoining convention center/theater; and the Vdara Hotel.

ARIA is a 4,004-room resort destination designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli, while the all-suite Vdara was designed by RV Architecture LLC. Both complexes are slated to open in December.

CityCenter officials say they anticipate Gold or Silver LEED certification for the development's remaining proejcts, which include a Mandarin Oriental hotel; Crystals, a 500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment district; Veer Towers, the community's only strictly residential buildings; and The Harmon (opening late 2010), a 400-room luxury boutique hotel.

CityCenter is a joint venture between MGM Mirage and Infinity World Development Corp., a subsidiary of Dubai World.
