Construction to Resume on Ohio Casinos

State and Rock Gaming Caesars reach tax deal


Work is slated to resume soon on Horseshoe Casinos in Cleveland and Cincinnati, after Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s office and developer Rock Ohio Caesars announced a resolution to a tax fight that had halted the projects in May, The Cincinnati Enquirer and Cleveland Plain Dealer report. Tensions on taxing gambling had been building since Kasich took office earlier this year, with Kasich calling the 2009 constitutional amendment that legalized the casinos in the state “a raw deal” and hiring consultants to explore how to raise additional tax revenue from them. Details on the new tax agreement are slated to be released later this week.
