Cordish Offers $700 Million for Tropicana Atlantic City

(September 2008) posted on Thu Sep 25, 2008 EDT

Cordish & Co. has begun talks with New Jersey casino regulators to buy the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City for $700 million, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The casino has been in limbo since last December, when New Jersey gaming regulators voted not to renew its gaming license, after owner Columbia-Sussex Corp. was deemed unfit to hold a casino license in the state. Baltimore-based Cordish is a real estate development and entertainment operating company that's been increasing its casino holdings. Earlier this month, the company was chosen by the state of Kansas to build the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at the Kansas Speedway.
