Carlson chain opens hotel in Long Island City neighborhood

Who says you can’t find the Country in the City? Minneapolis-based Country Inns & Suites by Carlson has opened its first property in New York, a 133-room hotel in Queens’ Long Island City neighborhood that’s owned by Krishna Hospitality LLC.

“Long Island City is one of New York’s hottest developing borough neighborhoods, and home to a variety of contemporary arts facilities and organizations, and attractive ethnic restaurants and cuisine,” commented Kaushik Patel, general manager and managing partner of the Country Inn & Suites New York City at Queens. “The hotel offers warm, hospitable surroundings in a neighborhood close to midtown Manhattan, Times Square, and Central Park.”

The property features the Country Inns’ new interior design prototype, which includes an updated color palette, increased workspace, bright lighting and residential-style furnishing. The Country Inns chain currently consists of about 480 units in North America, Latin America, Europe and India.
