Courtyard by Marriott Attains All-States Status

(June 2009) posted on Wed Jun 17, 2009 EDT

Courtyard by Marriott has opened its newest hotel in Waikiki, Hawaii, making it the first Marriott flag to have a property in all 50 U.S. states. "This is a huge accomplishment for the brand," said Brian King, vice president and global brand manager. "The fact that Courtyard has such a strong presence in the United States, and internationally, as well, is a testament to the brand's strong loyalty among both business and leisure travelers."

Worldwide, there are currently more 830 Courtyards in 28 countries. In the U.S., the flag is upgrading its lobbies, by installing a new, brighter color palette and replacing the standard front desk with "welcome pedestals" that are designed to create more personal and private interactions between guests and hotel personnel. The upgraded lobbies also feature a new, an always-open bistro that sells food, drinks and sundries.

Nearly 50 hotels currently sport the updated lobby design, and another 75 are expected to have it by the end of the year. Internationally, Courtyard plans to open hotels in nine additional countries by the end of 2010.
