Oceania Cruises teams with Tocar Interior Design on project

Oceania Cruises' new Marina ship, which is slated to set sail in 2011, will feature a trio of luxury Owner's Suites outfitted with furniture, fabrics lighting and bedding from the Ralph Lauren Home collection. The cruise line said it hired New York-based Tocar Interior Design to create the suites because of its partners' familiarity with the Polo Ralph Lauren esthetic. Susan Bednar Long, Tocar's co-founder and president, previously oversaw the decoration of flagship retail stores for Polo across North America. Christina Sullivan, co-founder and vice president, began her career at Polo in the store design department, where she launched Double RL Collection Shops across the U.S.
“To appeal to discerning travelers we wanted the best suites on Marina to feel like a luxurious estate home,” said Bob Binder, Oceania's president. “We thought out-of-the box, insisted on the finest craftsmanship and sought out the most talented residential designers. Tocar has designed the first suites at sea exclusively using furnishings from Ralph Lauren Home.”
In addition to the Owner's Suites, the 1,258-passenger Marina will feature 10 dining venues, an array of bars and lounges, and a full-service Canyon Ranch SpaClub and fitness center.
