International architecture company RMJM has released design details for a $1 billion mega-development planned for the Atasehir district in Istanbul, Turkey, that will include a five-star hotel, a 60-story tower, 1,500 residential units, offices and conference facilities. The development's overall design draws on the context and culture of Istanbul, including a spectral tiled facade, ranging from terracotta to blue to white.

The project, designed by architects in RMJM's New York and new Istanbul studios, is slated to be the first LEED-certified mixed-used development in Turkey when it opens in 2011. Its sustainable features will include rainwater collection sites, wind turbine technology, cooling water pools and a co-generation plant.
