Desires Hotels, a manager of independent boutique hotels, has created an international division and named industry veteran Gary Sims as its executive vice president/partner.
"Over the course of the past year, the demand has increased exponentially to provide management services outside of United States," said Raul Leal, president/partner of Tecton Hospitality, parent company of Miami-based Desires Hotels. "Based on our success, hotel owners and developers understand that a partnership with us is financially rewarding. We are able to create a sustainable business model in the current economic climate, and exceed owner expectations when the economy is booming."
Desires' expansion plans include properties in Mexico and South America, as well as in Portugal, Africa and Bermuda. In all, the company expects to have 15 international properties under management by next year.
