Dusit Thani will open its first Devarana Spa in Europe this summer. The spa will be located in Il Salviatino, a new luxury hotel in Florence, Italy. The brand's European expansion is being done via a joint venture involving Dusit Thani and MPg, a development and management company specializing in small luxury hotels.
Il Salviatino is a 15th century palazzo that's undergone a $20 million restoration undertaken by MPg founder Marcello Pigozzo and Italian architect Luciano Colombo. The Devarana Spa at that property includes five treatment rooms and suites, along with 14 Devarana Deluxe rooms that offer spa services in the privacy of hotel rooms. The spa incorporates contemporary Thai décor reflecting a "garden in heaven" concept derived from that country's ancient literature
Bangkok-based Dusit Thani currently operates four Devarana spas in Thailand and one in Manila, the Philippines. In addition to its expansion into Florence, the company plans to open a spa in the New Cairo district of Egypt this year, as well as one at the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai next year.
