HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS:

MGM Resorts International has promoted Corey Sanders to chief operating officer and Gamal Aziz to president and ceo of its MGM Hospitality unit. 

Hilton Worldwide hired Dasha Ross as its director, global corporate communications. Ross was previously senior manager, public relations, at Marriott International.

American Blue Ribbon Holdings, which acquired Max & Erma's Restaurants Inc. earlier this month for an undisclosed amount, has named Jeff Neely concept president of the casual-dining chain.

Rockwood Capital hired Antonio Lariño as director, hotels. 

W Hollywood has hired Jeffrey Guillory as director of sales and marketing.

Accor North America promoted Kristin Taylor to the senior vice president of technical services, real estate and development.

Aldo Kamper will become president and ceo of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors when Rüdiger Müller retires Oct. 1.

Graff, a manufacturer of plumbing products and fixtures for the kitchen and bath industry, has hired Jody Rosenberg as vice president of sales and marketing.

Theodore Alexander, a provider of lighting, home accents, case goods, and upholstered furnishings, promoted Lizzy Freundel to director of marketing communications and innovation. 

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:

HEI Hotels & Resorts will spend $14 million to reposition the 275-room DoubleTree Guest Suites Boston/Waltham as an Embassy Suites.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has opened the 180-room InterContinental Mendoza in Argentina.

The Kansas City Airport Marriott is undertaking a $900,000 redesign of its grand ballroom.

Macdonald Hotels opened the 120-room Windsor Hotel in London at the former site of a Caley's department store.

The Chanler at Cliff Walk, a 20-room mansion hotel in Newport, R.I., has joined the Preferred Boutique and Historic Hotels of America.

Pappas Restaurants has opened a Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Pharr, Texas.

ACQUISITIONS:

DiamondRock Hospitality purchased the 169-room Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea New York City for $68.4 million. 

BUSINESS BRIEFS:

Choice Hotels International selected Aquatic as a qualified bathware vendor for its franchises.

Durkan and Electric Mirror have partnered with the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality's ENDOW program, which supports students in the hospitality industry. 

Aria Group and Stone Source created a garment together at International Interior Design Association's Stitch Fashion Show and charity event.

AWARDS:

Three hospitality companies—Marriott International, Wyndham Worldwide and Carlson—were named to Working Mother magazines' list of 100 Best Companies. 

Miami-based Kobi Karp was named firm of the year in both architecture and interior design by the Latin Builders Association.

WAC Lighting received a Platinum ADEX Design of Excellence Award for its ETE Quick Connect Pendants. 

The Antique Fan Collectors Association has given Fanimation founder and ceo Tom Frampton the Michael Breedlove Brass Fan Award for his support of the group and its members.
