New cruise ship will feature onboard water coaster
When the Disney Dream cruise ship sets sail in early 2011, it will feature the first shipboard water coaster. The upper decks of the 2,500-passenger ship will be home to a 765-foot-long AquaDuck ride, a high-speed flume featuring twists, turns, drops, uphill acceleration and rapids.
Details on the AquaDuck were one of several shipboard amenities just disclosed by Disney for the Dream, the line’s first new ship in a decade. Other features will include “virtual portholes” in all inside staterooms consisting of video screens playing real-time images of the outside the ship provided by high-definition cameras; a full deck devoted to Disney-themed children’s activities; a nighttime entertainment district for adults; and a Senses Spa & Salon.
