Disney Theme Park in China Gets OK

Shanghai complex to include hotels and shopping


The Walt Disney Co. has won approval from China's central government to build a Disneyland-style theme park in Shanghai, Disney ceo Robert Iger announced. The agreement – which has been some 20 years in the making – calls for the development of hotels, shopping areas and a Magic Kingdom-style theme park on 1,000 acres in the city's Pudong district. The complex is expected to open in five or six years.
