OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:
Hilton Worldwide has signed a management agreement with Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Almousa Trading Group for the first Doubletree by Hilton in Saudi Arabia. The 304-room, new-build Doubletree by Hilton, Al Khobar, is slated to open in late 2012.
The HRH Tower -- an all-suite complex at the south end of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas – will open on Dec. 28. The tower will feature 359 suites, eight spa villas and seven penthouse suites on its 16th floor.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has signed an agreement with Themed Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd (TAR) to open and operate the Traders Hotel, Puteri Harbour, Iskandar, Malaysia. The four-story, 292-room hotel is slated to open in 2012. TAR is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the investment holding arm of the Malaysian government.
The former Buckhead Hotel Atlanta has reopened as the 349-key Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel & Conference Center, following a multimillion-dollar renovation.
St. Martins Lodge & Spa has opened its first property in central Europe, in Seewinkel, Austria.
AWARDS:
The Hilton Dubai Jumeirah won the “Best Sustainable Hotel of the Middle East” award at the recent Middle East Hospitality Expansion Congress in Abu Dhabi.
