Merida locale reflects Hilton’s expansion in region
Hilton Worldwide has announced plans to open its first Doubletree locale in Mexico, with the signing of a multi-year management agreement with Consorcio Hotelero S.A. de C.V. The companies will begin work on the Doubletree by Hilton, Merida – which will feature 100 guest rooms and suites, 3,000 square feet of meeting space, a full-service restaurant, lobby bar, pool and fitness center – later this month ,with a scheduled completion date of March 2011.
Hilton Worlwide said the announcement of the Merida development reinforces its continued growth in the region, and the further development success of the upscale, full-service Doubletree by Hilton brand across Latin America.
“This latest Doubletree by Hilton development in Merida, Mexico represents another positive step in our brand's growth in Latin America and the Caribbean, joining Doubletree by Hilton hotels and resorts now open in Peru, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico,” says Rob Palleschi, global head for Doubletree by Hilton hotels. “With further development plans confirmed in Mexico and Panama, along with 225 additional hotels welcoming guests in locations across the globe, the potential benefits for owners and developers of current and new-build hotels to become affiliated with Hilton Worldwide and the Doubletree by Hilton brand have never been greater.”
Hilton Worldwide currently has a portfolio of 22 hotels and resorts in Mexico across a number of brands including resort areas such as Cancun and Los Cabos, to the most recent addition which debuted in December 2009: Hilton Mexico City Reforma. The company has a Hilton Garden Inn property under development in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas and is actively pursuing additional growth opportunities in Mexico.
