Hilton Hotels Corp. has entered into its first management agreement in Russia, for a new Doubletree by Hilton in Sochi, the Black Sea port city that will host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The pact, with ZAO Pansionat Solnechy Lutch, involves a 200-room hotel with 15 detached villas that's slated to open by late 2011.
"As a year-round resort destination, Sochi is already one of the most popular holiday destinations for the domestic travel market in Russia," says Mike Collini, Hilton's vice president development, Northern Europe and Russia. "Thanks to the 2014 Winter Olympics it is now very much on the map for international travelers and is emerging as a key travel hot spot."
