A Dunkin' Donuts franchisee group is seeking increased oversight of the chain's co-op advertising fund, following last week's indictment of a former Dunkin' Brands marketing executive who allegedly received about $400,000 in kickbacks by funneling ad work to a graphic design firm. The group, DD Independent Franchise Owners, "feels that appropriate controls of the ad fund, including direct franchisee oversight and a CPA audit, must be instituted immediately," says president Mark Dubinsky.
