Dunkin' Donuts has opened its first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified store in St. Petersburg, Fla. The store, which will serve as the chain's prototype for future green units, features insulated concrete foam walls that reduce air conditioning usage by about 40 percent, as well as energy-efficient lighting and plumbing fixtures and an on-site composting system. The Canton, Mass.-based franchisor has more than 7,900 units worldwide.
