Brewing Up Growth
Italian coffee maker Lavazza has brought its Espression café concept to the U.S., with the launch of a 35-seat coffee shop in the arcade level of the Hilton Hotel Corp.'s iconic Drake Hotel in Chicago. The 1,900-square-foot café features a red-and-white color palette and walls dotted with large-format reproductions of artwork from Lavazza's avant-garde annual calendars, including photography by David LaChapelle, Jean-Baptiste Mondino and Annie Leibovitz.
The Drake locale is the first of several Espression cafés planned for Hilton properties, thanks to a licensing agreement between the two companies, a Lavazza representative said. Turin-based Lavazza also plans to roll out other company-owned and franchise locations throughout North America.
