HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS/APPOINTMENTS:

Red Lion Hotels Corp. has added Melvin Keating as the eighth member of its board of directors. Keating’s career in commercial real estate development includes working on such high-profile projects as the World Financial Center in New York and Canary Wharf in London.

Villeroy & Boch has hired Kurt Raabe to lead the U.S. office of the company’s International Project Team as project specification manager for its bath and wellness division. Raabe’s career includes stints at Toto USA Inc. and Bedrock Granite Inc.

Family restaurant chain Denny’s Corp. has hired Frances Allen as its chief marketing officer/executive vice president. Allen’s career includes stints with Dunkin’ Brands, Pepsi-Cola, Sony Ericsson and Frito-Lay.

WAC Lighting has appointed Thomas Wang international sales manager, based at the company’s office in Shanghai, China.

OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:

Chesapeake Hospitality has signed an agreement to operate the 230-room Crowne Plaza Madison Gateway in Madison, Wis. Work on the seven-story property, owned by Gateway Project, LLC, is slated to start in September,

The 117-key Hotel Duval in Tallahassee, Fla., has become the 11th member of Marriott International Inc.’s Autograph Collection, a portfolio of upper-upscale and luxury independent hotels and resorts. The 59-year-old Hotel Duval will continue to operate autonomously under its current name by Duval Partners LLC while utilizing Marriott's global reservations, and sales and marketing channels.

The Hampton Inn and Suites Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport in Florida has achieved LEED® Silver certification, becoming the first member of that Hilton Worldwide flag to achieve that status from the U.S. Green Building Council. The LEED Hampton was developed and constructed by Sarasota-based Finergy Development and Firmo Construction.

A 250-room Courtyard by Marriott and Champions Restaurant will open in downtown Fort Wayne, Ind., on Sept. 1 The property will be managed by White Lodging of Merrillville, Ind.

A Red Lobster restaurant that opened in March in San Antonio has been awarded Silver certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program. The Texas restaurant is one of the first owned by parent company Darden Restaurants to gain such certification.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and Naman Hotels have opened the 113-room Hyatt Place North Charleston, the fourth Hyatt Place hotel in South Carolina and second in North Charleston.

UFood Restaurant Group has opened a UFood Grill in the terminal at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. The new Ohio location is being operated by the Robinson Hill Hospitality Group of Chicago.
