Flash fact: Rooms on the rise

U.S. hotel developers are slated to build more than 260,000 rooms over the next two years, creating a 4.6 percent increase in supply, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) LLC. Projects opening this year may have to pump up their marketing. PWC predicts a 0.9 percent decline in U.S. hotel occupancy this year, the first significant decrease since the travel slowdown after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
