Despite the current economic tumult, new hotel openings in the U.S. will continue to grow during 2009 and 2010, Lodging Econometrics reports. LE's forecast calls for 1,436 openings in 2009 and 1,389 in 2010. "Importantly, these new opening counts will be at levels below the peaks for new supply set in previous cycles, which could indicate a quick rekindling of developer activity once the lending crisis is over," the LE forcast notes.
