Four Points Prototype to Open

(May 2009) posted on Fri May 08, 2009 EDT

Two big events loom on the immediate horizon for the Four Points by Sheraton chain: later this month, it will open its first new prototype hotel in San Antonio, Texas, and also launch its flagship vacation resort in Punta Gorda, Fla. Both moves are part of an ongoing, $1 billion reinvention of the brand by owner Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and its partners over the past five years.

The company says the San Antonio prototype "showcases the brand's contemporary look, complemented by classic and comfortable interior design elements refreshed for today's self-sufficient traveler." At the vacation resort, the company will debut the brand's Gateway Lifestyle design package, which it says is "reminiscent of a lake house or breezy beach cottage."

The reinvention of the Four Points chain has resulted in a 70 percent turnover of the portfolio, driven by major property renovations, conversions and new-builds. The flag currently has 135 properties in 22 countries.
