We’re kicking off a new feature to end your week with inspiration and, yes, eye candy. Each Friday, we’ll show off a selection of images—products, projects, ideas—that stretch the limits of design. This week, it’s all about high glamour.
These days, elaborate ornamentation starts with the shell. Metal X Glass by Arte’s Beaded Aubusson Branch (shown in Metallic Steel) has an edgy sensibility that can reference baroque indulgence or modern chic. Sara Baldwin’s Pamir design for New Revenna Mosaic is a groovy updated ikat pattern whose lustrous surface blends rich tonality and delicate panels.Artistic Tile’s Crysanthemum pattern has a mother-of pearl look.
Furniture, too is getting on the act. Sofas aren’t the first surface you’d expect to see bedazzled, but Hancock and Moore’s Exquisite sofa melds neo-Regency lines and sparkle. These styles aren’t an obvious fit with today’s more understated elegance, but they could be the perfect finishing touch for spaces where drama is queen. Designers, what inspires you?
