New tower at Landry-owned complex has 500 rooms
Rush Tower, a 500-room addition to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas complex, opens today. Las Vegas officials hope the $150-million development will serve as a catalyst for further redevelopment in downtown Las Vegas.
"The tower is the latest in our ongoing renovation and expansion projects at the Golden Nugget, which now total more than $300-million, and which will certainly up the ante for other properties in Las Vegas," said Tilman Fertitta, board chairman, president and ceo of Landry's Restaurants Inc., which owns the property.
The new tower features a porte cochere at a landscaped entrance at First Street and Carson Street, while the centerpiece of its lobby is a “floating” reservation desk backed by a 75,000-gallon tropical aquarium fish tank. The guest rooms in the tower are 20 percent larger than those in Golden Nugget's current North and South standard rooms, and feature “contemporary and sleek decor and complemented by stylish and fiery hues,” according to the company.
