Italian locale now flies St. Regis flag

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has opened the 100-key St. Regis Florence in Italy. The hotel, which formerly operated under Starwood’s Luxury Collection as Grand Hotel Florence, underwent a 10-month renovation as part of the company’s $100 million-plus effort to “renovate and restore our most magnificent hotels,” says Roeland Vos, president, Europe, Africa and Middle East.

The hotel’s overall design incorporates local artisans and design elements with custom furniture, crystal chandeliers, Italian antiques and hand-painted landscapes. In the hotel’s Bottega Veneta suite, the design house’s creative director Tomas Maier outfitted the space with muted neutrals and furniture from the Bottega Veneta collection.

The hotel’s amenities include the Etichetta Pinchiorri restaurant, which features a 19th century glassed art ceiling and a Murano glass chandelier. The hotel also offers an outdoor library terrace, ballroom, brick-vaulted cellar and three Iridium Spa Suites with circular chromo-therapy Jacuzzi tubs.
