Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has opened the Grand Hyatt Doha, a hotel and residential complex designed by HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates. The complex, which has 249 guest rooms and 91 private residences, is Hyatt's first hotel in Qatar.
The hotel features an Old World exterior. Inside, HBA designers created a locally inspired interior whose architecture re-creates the traditional elegance of an Arabian palace, with palatial entryways and public spaces, including a grand lobby that's home to a floor-to-ceiling, 55-foot-high glass window. Qatari-based artist Nijenbandring De Boer has been commissioned to produce paintings inspired by local scenery and traditional art, which are featured prominently in the hotel. The complex also houses four restaurants, a spa and four swimming pools.
