Ocean-front locale in Brazil bought for luxury hotel
Hyatt Hotels Corp. said it has acquired a majority interest in an 11-acre ocean-front tract in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that will serve as the site of a planned Grand Hyatt hotel. The 408-key hotel will be located in in Barra da Tijuca, an upscale residential/commercial district within Rio de Janeiro.
The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro will feature two full service restaurants, a lounge/bar, pool bar, patisserie, fitness center and spa, grand ballroom and meeting/function space. The company has not yet disclosed an opening date for the locale.
“Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro will be a terrific addition to the collection of 36 spectacular Grand Hyatt hotels around the world today, and will be a strong complement to the 470-room Grand Hyatt in Sao Paulo,” said Myles McGourty, senior vice president, Latin America for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
