Gaming destination proposed for state
Hard Rock International said it wants to build a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Holyoke, Mass., should gaming become legal in that state. Hard Rock said it has entered a joint venture with a local partner, Paper City Development LLC, to develop the complex on a 100-acre site near Interstate 91 in western Massachusetts.
Jim Allen, Hard Rock International’s chairman said, the proposed complex would be “a state-of-the-art facility with a wide range of non-gaming amenities that will provide a world-class entertainment experience unique to the region.”
Casinos are not yet legal in Massachusetts. But The Boston Globe reports the Hard Rock announcement comes as lawmakers are trying to finalize a bill that would allow three resort-style casinos in the state, including one in its western region.
