Hotelier takes over Rosemont hotel in U.S., unveils plans for Doubletree resort in Italy

Hilton Worldwide has announced two additions to its portfolio: the Rosemont Hotel at O'Hare (formerly a Sofitel property) has joined the company after undergoing a $15 million renovation, and it has signed a franchise license agreement with EDILGEST Srl for a new Doubletree by Hilton resort in Tuscany, Italy.

Hilton has reflagged the 300-room Rosemont hotel in suburban Chicago as the Hilton Rosemont/Chicago O'Hare. “With the addition of Hilton Rosemont/Chicago O'Hare, Hilton Hotels continues to grow its portfolio of premium airport hotels, a hotel concept pioneered by our founder, Conrad Hilton,” said Dave Horton, global head, Hilton Hotels brand. “This property reflects our leadership in the business and events market and genuine understanding of what today's travelers need and want. The design, location, practical amenities and state-of-the-art meeting facilities at this property will appeal to leisure and corporate guests, as well as meeting and event planners and participants.”

The new-build Doubletree Resort, meantime, is slated to open in spring 2011. The 97-key Doubletree by Hilton Resort Siena-Chianti will feature two full-service restaurants, a bar, spa facility with indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, outdoor resort style swimming pool and meeting space.

“Doubletree by Hilton has seen remarkable growth since 2008, when we opened our first hotels in Italy and across Europe,” said Rob Palleschi, global head for Doubletree Hotels. “We are proud to continue our development success in Italy, with this outstanding resort development in the Montereggioni region of Tuscany. With our current collection of 13 Doubletree by Hilton hotels operating in Europe and a further 17 additional hotels now under development across the region, the unique potential for Italian owners and developers of current and new-build hotels to become affiliated with the Doubletree by Hilton brand is more lucrative than ever.”
