Accor North America has appointed Sherry Vidal-Brown executive vice president, human resources. Vidal-Brown's career includes stints at DFW International Airport, FedEx-Kinko's, American Airlines and Personnel Decisions International.
Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc. has hired Lynette McKee as senior vice president and chief development officer for the company, which operates 840 units under the Checkers and Rally's brands. McKee most recently was vice president of franchising for Dunkin' Brands
International Plaza Resort & Spa in Orlando, Fla., has hired Greg Gooding as general manager to oversee a multimillion-dollar renovation planned for the 1,094-room hotel.
Ruitenberg Displays Inc., a commercial interior design shop, has launched a lighting division and named Bud Green as its vp and David Tebbs as its vp, sales and marketing.
Hunter Realty Associates Inc. has hired Gary Mills as vice president of the hotel investment services firm's new Dallas office.
OPENINGS/RENOVATIONS/BRAND NEWS:
Hilton Hotels Corp. has opened a 1,400-room hotel on Destination Parkway in Orlando, Fla. The Hilton Orlando, which is the first hotel to provide a covered open-air walkway to the adjoining Orange County Convention Center, is a partnership between Hilton, AREA Property Partners and Rida Development Corp.
The Obadon Hotel Group has opened The Omphoy Ocean Resort in Palm Beach, Fla. The complex features 134 guest rooms, a signature restaurant by chef Michelle Bernstein and an Exhale Spa.
Union Square Hospitality Group has announced plans for its fourth Shake Shack restaurant in New York. The gourmet fast-food burger joint will be a standalone unit on Prince Street in Manhattan.
Wyndham Hotel Group has opened its first Ramada property in Russia, a 156-room hotel in Yekaterinburg. The six-story locale is owned by Mayak Corp.Ltd. and managed by Sophos Hotels.
Crescent Hotels & Resorts has taken over management of two hotels in St. Paul, Minn.: the 470-room Crowne Plaza St. Paul-Riverfront and the 249-room Hilton Garden Inn St. Paul City Center. Both properties are owned by SP Hotels LLC.
The Crowne Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Fairfield, N.J. has completed a $12 million renovation that involved upgrading its guest rooms, public areas and meeting rooms. The property is managed by Crestline Hotels and Resorts and owned by an affiliate of True North Management Group.
Commonwealth Hotels Inc. has opened the new-build Hyatt Place-Salt Lake City Airport. The 123-room hotel was developed and is owned by a subsidiary of Corporex Cos. Inc.
Papa Bello Enterprises Inc. has hired Pastore Food Corp. to assist the owner/operator/franchisor of Italian-style eateries with its corporate planning and growth process.
BUSINESS BRIEFS:
Cubellis, an architecture, engineering, and interior design firm, announced that its Boston headquarters has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, as has the 521-room Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza.

Sol Meliá Vacation Club has received the 2008 Developer Innovation Award for its new Sol Meliá Vacation Club at Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, by Group RCI, a vacation exchange.
