Hilton Hotels Corp. has opened the new, 53-story guest tower at the Fallsview complex in Niagara Falls, Ont. The hotel tower, the tallest in Canada, sits adjacent to a 34-story Hilton hotel that opened in 2000. The new tower doubled the number of rooms at the complex to about 1,000.
Initial plans called for the new tower to have 58 stories, but that was scaled back, The Buffalo News reports. "I think it was really just cost at the end of the day," Anthony Annunziata, vice president for marketing and development for the property told The News. "It made sense at 53, and we didn't actually need to go to 58."
The Hilton Fallsview is attached to the Fallsview Casino Resort, near the Horseshoe Falls.
